Teacher 02:11
Someday I'll be the Teacher Someday I'll be the Teacher And I'll stop Making such a goddamn mess Someday I'll be the Poet I'll die in my throes I'll be so stoic So stoic You'll think I've turned into a block of ice But when spring comes I won't remember why I'll write it all down To make the pieces fit A historian Throwing a bitch fit
2.
Pleasantries 01:48
Unpleasant pleasantries are making me sick Hurried hellos and vague goodbyes fall from our lips And I could gasp from all this wasted breath Avert my eyes, I can't stand the sight of a tidy mess
3.
Beggar 03:25
Don't you know there's a flow of things A constant go of things Whether you like it or not Don't you know there's a flow to things Rhythmic hearts beating Whether you're running or stopped No amount of tea will suffice Went to bed early, tossed all night Plead with the stars, a beggar with no sign Nothing calms this aching mind Don't you know there's a flow of things A constant go of things Whether you like it or not Don't you know there's a flow to things Rhythmic hearts beating Whether you're running or stopped
4.
Running 02:57
You pushed me down the hill I wasn't ready Braking with both my heels For seven years running Caught in a landslide Ignored the feelings Until it swallowed me whole For seven years Running I don't wanna run anymore
5.
Quiet complexities The words don't always reach Concepts work fine But aren't quite No, not exactly the things A rope around my neck My thoughts on a leash You pull ten paces ahead Could you please wait for me?

Screaming knees Bloodshot eyes Formaldehyde Anxious hands Lights too bright Restless mind Red, raised cheeks Silent stare We don't dare speak The language is there Jaw's too tight Though I could talk all night And live vaguely aware The language is there Energetic release Informative means Warm the room Or make the air stand still Energetic release Informative means Warm the room Or make the air stand still It's all said and done Before you ever take the stage A life on the run, bruised like A clumsy renegade Red, raised cheeks Silent stare We don't dare speak The language is there Jaw's too tight Don't want to talk all night And live vaguely aware The language is there

A Storm 03:18
I was in the space that remembered you You were walking away, right towards the moon The motions fell to shame, light dance in your eye You were the storm coming regardless of the tide Now you started, there you go Putting fractures in this rigid place You try again, again, and again To leave it different this time Is this what you wanted? I don't know It never works out anyways I'll try again, again, and again To grow into what's mine

Good Morning 02:25
Rising in the morning Another day in and out Forlorn and automatic Just shuffling about What's it all for? My jaw closing in on itself How could you be so sure? I've Forgotten how I felt Rising in the morning Another day in and out Self scorned and going batshit Don't know what that's about Tell me, is there more? To the knots Hiding inside my neck There's simply no cure For the settling of a safe bet
9.
Dust Bunnies 04:05
Dust bunnies run across the floor Why I'm here again, I'm not sure Must be the season Sniffling and sneezing Accidental self treason Tangled in sheets and plush Share your mind with me, it's so lush Pinks and blues extend for miles Trick of the light, yours and mine Yours and mine There's so much of me Like a daisy, I must be a weed Overabundant And when they die They turn pink and I can't help but love it Love it Love it

about

This is my debut album outlining the observations, feelings, and growing pains of my early twenties. Death By Another Name is about recognizing pain and fear as momentary, passing just like the seasons. What may feel like a demise is really just a jumping off point.

I love this album for all the different ways I got to explore my inner workings and new (to me) textures and arrangements, creating little worlds out of what I found. I love that I found ways to love myself through these songs, when it felt impossible for awhile.

Sincerely,
Jordan
